Above all things the Lord desire intimacy and communion with us. In the garden that intimacy was lost, but in Christ it has been restored. Now we have full access to experience God at any time. There is nothing more satisfying than His love and glory in our lives.
It is God’s Pleasure to Be with You
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
The Lord was so pleased with Mary because she had found the value of sitting before His feet and hearing His words. Martha was busy with much serving. It is always easier for people to get busy doing things rather than just spending time with God. Spending time with God, to the natural mind, seems like a waste of time because it involves us being motionless, quieting our soul and allowing God to speak to us. But when we find that place we realize just how many things we have been doing in our own flesh rather than from a place of hearing what He wants us to do. After all, what we do should be completely connected with what He has shown us to do. Otherwise we are just shooting randomly hoping we will somehow hit the target. The problem is that usually we are aiming completely the opposite direction.
The Place of Yieldedness
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Our position before the Lord means much when it comes to hearing His voice. Mary wanted to make sure she heard the voice of Jesus so she got as close as she could to make sure she could hear clearly. When we are busy doing our thing “for God” we are not in a place of getting to “know Him”. The Lord is not interested in our what we can do for Him. He wants show us what to do rather than us stepping out independent of Him. Things will go a whole lot better that way. He will be pleased and their will be good fruit from what we are doing. It is in this place of yieldedness that we are living sacrifices to God. Here He is able to perform His promises in our lives.
Oh! That Natural Mind
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.”
The natural mind will always give you a fight when it comes to quieting things down, not doing what everyone else says is the “thing to do” and putting God first. In our spirit man we know what to do because it is created after the righteousness of God, but the “flesh”, the natural mind and soulish nature fights against it. After all, scripture say for us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all the things we need will be given to us. The natural mind will create all kinds of concerns, lists and opportunities for us to miss the “one thing” that matters the most. We need to get on God’s value system and make His priorities our priorities. The natural mind that reasons away the voice of the Lord will be the first thing that needs to go! All the intellectual reasonings of the mind that discount and devalue the words the Lord speaks to us must be “taken captive” and removed from the landscape of our minds. God is serious about having ruler ship of our thinking. Everything that smacks of doubt, unbelief, worry, accusation, complaint and every other unclean thing that is birthed in the bowls of hell needs to be bound from our thinking that we may have the mind of Christ. God desires our thinking to be permeated with the heavenly virtues that He sent His Holy Spirit to give us. We must remember that the Holy Spirit is first of all holy. The spirit of compromise has so caused so much of the populous of God’s people to dumb down standards of morality and accountability that it is a disgrace. God wants to perform His greater works in us and through us as we yield to Him in every area. As sanctified vessels of the Holy Spirit we are worthy to be called by His Name because we walk with Him with a transparent and yielded heart. We have renounced the hidden things of shame so that we may walk with God in His garden of life.
Flowing River of Revelation
“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints…”
The benefits we receive out of this life of connectedness to God are immeasurable. When we learn to hang with Him and reflect His face we will be found in the living waters of revelation. There is such peace, such joy and such grace as we live out our lives in being satisfied with Him alone. All the things that we thought were so important to God did not compare to His desire of just spending time with us. As it was with Adam before the fall, so God sent His Son Jesus to restore that same intimate fellowship. First and foremost it is to fellowship with Him that we are called. Everything else that we strive to do is in vain without this most vital aspect of our spiritual lives. It would be like trying to pour water out of a dry bucket. If we are not with Him, abiding in Him then there is not way for us to have a thing to give. In His Presence we cannot help but reflect His face. It is this effortless life of living that we are called too. Jesus told us to come to Him because His yoke is easy and His burden is light. None of the strivings of our flesh can produce the life of God. No hype, no push, no flesh will glory in His Presence. Those who are caught up in the flow of His love, grace and peace will experience the unending light of His revelation. As we discover the glory of the Throne Room of God we will experience the pure river of life in Christ that has no end. There is a well that God well of living water destined for our lives that only remains functional as we continually experience Him. His love is intoxicating and our revelation of His love only increases as we stay in union and communion with Him.
