Early in the morning on Sunday, July 30th before our church service I was musing in my heart to the Lord about the word for the month of August.
I’ve not done that in some time although I believe the Lord leads us both individually and corporately as the Body of Christ with specific themes, words and emphasis.
Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
Isaiah 35:3-7
I felt the Lord speak to me that the word for the month of August is breakthrough!
As I was processing that word I was thinking, every month is a month for breakthrough.
All my life is about breaking through to a better, higher and deeper place with God, to see more of God’s activity in the earth. When you think about it our standard is Jesus, because of this there is always going to be the need for breakthrough in regards to our being like Him, manifesting His works and walking in His stature.
He who breaks through has gone up before them; they will break through and pass the gate and go out by it. Then their king will pass on before them, the Lord at their head.
Micah 2:13
In that Sunday morning service, my wife Brandi then shared how she felt that for the month of August the focus would be breakthrough. Needless to say I bore witness with this word having just received it myself. I’m saying all this to emphasize the point that Breakthrough really is the word for August.
If that is not enough, just a few days later I get a text from someone we know who was in the grocery parking lot with his wife and a woman close to her goes into labor! With no medical help available she helps that lady give birth to a baby in the parking lot before the paramedics can get there. What an amazing picture of breakthrough! These are just some witnesses that August really is the month for breakthrough!
It is funny for me because you see a lot of words that come out about breakthrough so sometimes it gets a little redundant and maybe overused. Yet we always want breakthrough and we will never turn it down.
When Jesus performed a miracle, when Lazarus was raised from the dead, that was heaven breaking through into the earth. When prayers are answered, promises obtained, lives transformed, atmospheres changed and revival breaking out, these are all manifestations of God’s glory breaking through into the earth.
For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you shall call upon Me, and you shall come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek Me and find Me, when you shall search for Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
The Lord is emphasizing that this is a month to give birth to what is already conceived by His Holy Spirit. The meaning of conceive is to form or devise (a plan or idea) in the mind. In this case it is the plans formed and devised in the heart of God.
It is a time to press in for more, to ignite the fires of intercession and grab hold of your apparatus – a system of communion, devotion and pursuit that will foster the glory of God in your life.
Be intentional about your approach, set aside time to seek the Lord for His breakthroughs for you. God wants you to go higher, make things better and bring an increase in His activity in your life more than ever!
