Becoming a People of His Glory

God has called us to live in His glory. The reason is because His plan is to fill the earth with His glory and we have been invited to play a part in that fulfillment.

Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

Isaiah 60:1

In Isaiah 60 we see that we are to “arise and shine” for the “glory” has come upon us. The glory of God is the light of His Presence. Just as Moses would come down from the mountain with a face so bright he had to cover it so we are called to walk in the glory. Whether it is manifested in the natural or not, when God’s glory and Presence are present light to shining – even affecting the atmosphere around us.

Expressive Worship

This is where a life of worship plays in. There are different definitions of a life of worship. Both are valid. One is that our lives as living sacrifices are worship to God. This is foundation and is absolutely true. The extended version of of this is understanding what some call “Davidic worship”.

God has gone up with a shout,
The Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding.

Psalms 47:5-6

This is defined as the expressive, vocalized, instrumental, musical and demonstrative extension of worship in our lives. We see this in the life of David as he “worshiped” the Lord passionately with the whole heart. It is part and parcel of being a living sacrifice of worship to the Lord.

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

Psalms 100:1-4

Why is this so important? As you understand that God inhabits the praises of His people, you realize that when you vocalize your praise to God His glory is invading your life! This is alluded to in __ as we put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Why? Praise brings heaven’s glory into your life. It opens the door for the atmosphere of heaven which is comprised of peace, lightness and joy to be experienced in your heart – you are offering the “sacrifice of praise”.

Inhabited by God

Our praise is crucial to experience the glory in our lives. Learning to worship, not from your head, but from your spirit makes all the difference in the level of glory you experience in your life.

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Hebrews 13:15

Remember that glory equals light and light drives out darkness. We should be sowing to live filled with the light of God. Sow to the heavens in praise to God and reap a life filled with His glory.

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:18

Another aspect of this is to learn how to receive from the Holy Spirit in your engagement with Him in worship. Sometimes we are focused on what we “give” to the Lord in worship. Focus on what heaven is pouring in your heart. Receive from the Lord as He pours His glory in you as we are created to be habitations of His Spirit.

Through practicing the Presence of God we grow exponentially in the Lord. As we grow in the practice of His Presence we become people of His glory – temples of the very Presence of God.
