The Ancient Pillars: The Pillar of Wisdom

This post is a continuation of the previous in regards to the encounter where I was standing before 4 ancient pillars. These pillars were comprised of righteousness, wisdom, humility and grace. Today I’m sharing on the“Pillar of Wisdom”.

The Pillar of Wisdom

Psalms 111:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.”

The fear of the Lord is where wisdom begins. It is the Person of Wisdom that imparts wisdom and causes it to work in our lives. Wisdom very much has to do with the way we present ourselves, how we interact with God and with one another, the grace of our communication and the way we treat others. The way we live our lives really expresses who we are. Wisdom builds a house.(Proverbs 9:1) Our lives represent a house. We are dwelling places. We choose what we want to dwell in us. This world has a set of values to offer, a way of thinking and a way of doing things. God as well has His way. And although there are many imitations, nothing can replace the real thing

James 3:17
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

What God brings to us is the very substance of His life. When He indwells us the virtues of heaven are imparted to us. Without His Presence in our lives the spirit of wisdom has no place of entry. The wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God are sourced from two completely different worlds and approaches. There is the wisdom of this world and the wisdom from above that is referred to in the Book of James. The wisdom from above is pure.

Psalms 53:1
“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.

We see that it is important to get it right from the beginning. Because if we think that we can obtain wisdom in ourselves we are deceived. Wisdom is not comprised of one right choice, but of the sum of a life lived from God’s Presence. One may say, “That was a very wise choice.” Yet if God is not the source or accredited in the equation then they are foolish. Wisdom comes from God. If any man lacks wisdom let him ask God. If someone is wise in his own eyes he is foolish. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If we don’t have the beginning, we have not started the race. We can have understanding about something and make a good choice, but wisdom is the sum of a life lived in God’s Presence. God gives us wisdom and the ability to live it out.

James 1:5
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

We have all made bad choices. We have all made mistakes. The question is what did we learn and how did we overcome these things. Did we acquire wisdom from God to learn, overcome and grow in His wisdom so that the next time we yield to Him growing in His grace. Or did we only take the route of a superficial Band-Aid that was no cure at all, not learning to lean on God. Here we can more clearly see that it is the sum of events of how we responded to the challenges of life. By turning to God as our source, help and trust, we grow in His wisdom.

Worldly wisdom operates out of the natural mind. The wisdom of God comes through our being yielded to God in the person of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:4-5) All of us have tests in our lives. God will keep giving us these tests until we learn and pass them. The sooner we learn means that He will graduate us to another blessing and another test. Through our communication with the Spirit we can overcome.

It will greatly help us if we can learn to ask the right questions so that we can receive his wisdom and grace.

1. How do I deal with this situation (each is different)

2. What adjustments can I make that would help?

3. Is this really the only way this can be done or am I limiting my effectiveness by this one approach?

4. How does this really work best? Am I just doing this a certain way because I’m caught in a rotating pattern of thinking or was taught this is the only way to do something? Is this a sacred cow God would like to remove from my life?

God wants to build a house, His Body, that will hold His Presence. His wisdom will build us into that kind of house.

Ephesians 2:22
“In whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”
