Heavenly Focus

Colossians 3:1-2
?If you then were raised with Christ, desire those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth.?
As believers we are called to bring our thoughts to a heavenly focus. Jesus had His focus intently on the Father?s will, not on anything concerning the earth.
John 5:30
?I can do nothing of Myself. As I hear, I judge. My judgment is just, because I seek not My own will, but?the will of the Father who sent Me.?
His passion was to fulfill the mission that the Father had given to Him. ?Jesus was on the earth for just a little while and there was no time to waste. ?With this He knew that there was only one thing that was going to occupy His time, the Father?s heart.
How important it is for us to have that same life focus. ?When our hearts are fixed upon His will, His plan and His desires we find real purpose in our lives and beyond our lives. The reason we are here is not about us but rather it is for us to play our part in His bigger work to bring others into the knowledge of God. We see God?s passion is that we be the bridges that bring heaven to earth. ?The Church is comprised of those who know their God, who are intimately connected with the realm of heaven and usher that realm into the earth through lives devoted to God.
2 Corinthians 4:7
?But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, the excellency of the power being from God and not from ourselves.?

Bring Heaven to Earth

God has created us in such a way that we can be those bridges that bring heaven to earth. ?We are those pipelines of His glory where the living resources of heaven flow. For us it is a privilege to be used by God in such a way. ?For His people receive the benefit of being yielded vessels experiencing the rich treasure of His Presence flowing through them. ?These are the rivers of living water that Jesus spoke of which flow from our inmost being.
John 7:38
?He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.?
Maybe there are some that say, ?Yes! I know what you are talking about?. ?Then there may be others that are not sure or just don?t know how to tap in to this reality of being a conduit of His glory. ?Here are a few tips that will help you to join into this most awesome place of His Presence.

Keys to Connect

1. Yield to God

Romans 6:13
?Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but yield yourselves to God, as those who are alive from the dead, and your bodies to God as instruments of righteousness.?

When we learn how to surrender ourselves to God we make ourselves available for all that He has. ?Take some time to just express to the Lord how you freely give yourself over to Him to be that vessel of His Presence. ?Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you just as water fills a glass.

2. Cast Your Cares Upon Him

I Peter 5:6-7
?Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Cast all your care upon Him, because He cares for you.?

If you have worries, concerns or fears cast then all before the Lord. ?Give them all to Him, laying them down at His feet. ?Take His easy yoke upon you. ?It is important to lay aside all the weights and sins. ?Repent of bad attitudes or anything else that would come between you and God. Change your mind and change your direction to follow after God with all of your heart.

3. Connect Your Heart to God Through Worship

Psalm 150:6
?Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!?

Turn on the worship music! ?Turn off the distractions. ?Give God your whole-hearted attention through vocalizing your love for Him. ?Sing a new song to God. Maybe you start with a song that you know but then branch off into your own song no matter how simple it may be. ?The Holy Spirit will pour melodies of heaven in your heart.

4. Engage in Prayer

Philippians 4:6-7
?Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.?

Mingle prayer into your worship time. Slow down in your prayers. Don?t be anxious but take your time. ?Purposely make an effort to put things in slow gear. ?Rest in His Presence and receive from the Holy Spirit. Allow God to breathe in you a refreshing breath. Take time to just commune with the Holy Spirit, interacting with Him as He pours the love of God in your heart.

5. Absorb the Word of God

Psalm 119:12-16
?Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes. With my lips I declare all the decrees of Your mouth. I rejoice in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts and keep my eyes on Your ways. I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.?

Integrate some verses of scripture. ?What are you needing to overcome? ?Do you need patience, love, grace, peace or maybe there is subject the Lord is emphasizing to you in your worship time. ?Find four or so scriptures on that subject and meditate upon them. ?Allow the Lord to work His mind into yours, His thoughts into your thoughts.

The Transformed Life

Romans 12:1-2
?I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.?
These are ways we can being to set our hearts on things above, moving from an earthly focus to a heavenly perspective. ?Jesus paid the price that we would be living in the reality of being seated with Him in heavenly places. ?When we lay down our lives we are giving them over to live in the higher place of His glory. We are giving ourselves over to a better way of living. ?When we are walking in awareness of His Presence then we are able to give that reality away to others.
Habakkuk 2:14
?For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the seas.?
Be a bridge that connects heaven with earth!? Just as Jesus was the Door, we all have the ability to open the door of our lives to reveal the glory of God for others. Make it your holy obsession to play your part in seeing the glory of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the seas. The earth shall be filled with His glory through YOU!?

  1. Thank you for your ministry this just helped bring things back for me . I have done these things for so long in my life they just flowed through me yet for a season God has stripped me of all and has made me to just learn to sit with him (not easy for a doer) i think in this last week i have truely given up the fight and said ok i will embrace this part of my journey too. Facing things i am not sure of but knowing i am needing to let God have all of my heart and life even those areas i am not sure .
Not sure if this makes sense but i love and appreciate your music and ministry.
