Receiving Heaven's Deposits

But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.

Luke 10:42

God has deposits for us each and every day. Jesus said not to worry about tomorrow but realize that each day has enough trouble of its own. If we worry about tomorrow we miss the blessing of today. Faith is now, not tomorrow or even in the next few hours. The Holy Spirit needs our attention now. If we can learn to embrace the moment that we are living in, optimize these moments and allow God to have a voice in our lives we will find our lives being filled with His peace like never before.

When we allow voices and things to crowd out the voice of God in our lives we will end up empty and confused about everything concerning our lives. The best thing we can do is find that place with Him where we are living moment to moment in sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. God is never short on words, never short on direction for us, never wanting to be far from us “in our thinking” because the reality is that He never is far from us. He is always “inside of us”.

We are not living from an old testament paradigm, but rather from the view of the finished work of Christ. Many christians live from a view that God is in heaven and we are knocking at His door. This could not be further from the truth. Jesus said to His disciples I am now with you but I shall be IN YOU. If we are really His then He is in us. This is why Paul said “let the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all”. Because now we are living from the newness of life standpoint, we connect spirit to Spirit with God in the inner courts of our heart.

But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.”

1 Corinthians 2:9-12

What God had found was a people that were completely His, being a kingdom of priests for His purposes. Through this divine connection, spirit to Spirit, He is now able to establish us according to His deepest desire, Christ in us the hope of glory. He had been longing for a people who would no longer have to view Him from a distance but rather be up close and personal with Him.  All of this is now made a reality in Christ.

With this in mind, before you get too busy running to and fro like Martha did trying to please the Lord through her works, take time with God like Mary did with Jesus. Lean into the Lord by resting from your works and enter into His perfect work on the cross. We accomplish much more when we learn to stop, look at Him and listen to hear what He is saying. With this here are some practical steps that you can use to move into a deeper and more intimate place with Him on a daily basis.

  1. Lay Down in a Comfortable Place
  2. Worship the Lord
  3. Quiet Thoughts (write them down if you must then leave them)
  4. Receive His Love
  5. After Some Time… when you feel quieted in your soul, then Write Down what He is speaking to you

Remember that in your day it is never too late to stop what you are doing to take 5 or so minutes to just lay things down and give God an opportunity to check into your heart. He is always waiting on us. The question is “are we waiting on Him”?
