The Route of His Rest

There is a road that is less traveled. When the rubber meets the road we will discover what is in us. The popular road is not the way of wisdom, just as the way that leads to life is not the way of the crowd. We are constantly making decisions that affect where we end up. No one makes all the right choices, but God wants wrong choices to be the exception and not the rule for our lives. We can avoid so much conflict taking God?s path. Sometimes the battles we face come from our being right where God wants us to be, then there are the battles that we create through a lack of wisdom in our choices. The beautiful thing is that God provides us a way that works. He is for us, not against us. God?s promise to us is a peace that passes understanding, that in the midst of life?s storms we have a refuge and a place of rest. As we enter His rest we find restoration for our lives. Isn?t it interesting how ?rest? is the root word for restoration. Without entering into the rest of faith we cannot come into an experience of having our lives restored.

Hebrews 4:11
?Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.?

Psalm 23 confirms this fact saying, ?? He makes me to lie down in green pastures, leads me by the still waters? He restores my soul.?

Psalm 23
?The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul??

Can you picture this tranquil landscape that God has called you to? How do we find this life? In the Book of James wisdom from above is described first of all as ?pure, gentle and
peaceable?. (James 3:17) The river of God flows out of us in the form of a refreshing river. Just as the woman at the well was so desperate for a drink of living water, Jesus was ready to deliver it to her. Aren?t you glad that God is no respecter of persons? What He did for her He will do for you. His care for us is beyond description, His love is an unending river overflowing into our lives without reservation.

Matthew 11:28-30
?Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.?

In this day rest is a road less traveled. It is hard for people to just get still before God. With so much noise in the soul people get consumed with the cares of life. But one wise choice can avert many cares. Don?t ever think you don?t have time for God. He is right there just waiting for the opportunity to take some of your time. As little as it may seem to you, God can multiply your time. The Bible says that when we seek Him with the whole heart we will find Him. I love that line, ?the whole heart.? It is possible for us to just give Him a little of our heart or just half-hearted devotion. Yet God is looking to get it all.

Psalm 119:2
?Blessed are those who keep His testimonies,
Who seek Him with the whole heart.?

He knows that when He gets our whole heart then we will discover that His promises are true, that He is Who He says He is and will do what He said He will do. His Word becomes a fortress around our soul, keeping us at perfect peace because our mind is completely given to Him. The wisest choice anyone could make is to give God ?their whole heart? in devotion, worship and service. He is the King Who is worthy of our all.

  1. I love soaking in His Presence. We play your soaking music at the Healing Rooms in San Francisco. I need to get more! I first found the CD at Bethel Bookstore in Redding Ca. I love the fact that it’s instrumental. I also play it for my private time with God.
