The other day I stumbled upon the words, “The Portals of Heaven”. It caused me to go back in time when I created the album a long, long time ago. In the context that I developed the album, the theme was really referring to what are actual portals in the heavens. You can see it in the story of Jacob, where he saw the angels of God ascending and descending upon the ladder to and from the heavens.
“Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.”
This was where my mind was going with it at the time of this album. David talks about the supernatural activity that took place through “the doors of heaven” when God gave manna to His people.
“Yet He had commanded the clouds above,
And opened the doors of heaven,
Had rained down manna on them to eat,
And given them of the bread of heaven.”
At some point I really meshed with the reality that “we” are portals (or doors) as well. It has been alluded to or taught in different ways. You may have seen this presented that we are “gateways”. It is true. We are doorways, gateways or portals of spiritual substance. Just looking at the power of our words, the tongue goes a long way in releasing things in the spirit realm. You have experienced it. We all have on both ends. The words that we speak have substantial impact on people either for the good or the bad. What a responsibility we have to be releasers of the goodness of God into our respective atmospheres. How awesome a privilege. God so blesses us that we get to participate in being one of many entry ways for His goodness, heaven’s realities being revealed and made known through us.
“This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.”
Jesus is the Door of heaven. As you read the gospels you will see heaven advancing into the earth through Him. You see His words anointed of the Spirit, miracles, deliverance and healing all tearing into demonic territory. The Kingdom of God was coming on earth as it is in heaven, through Jesus. It is so substantial for us to understand that God fully intends to reveal Himself through us.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
You are a portal of heaven. This is not something you become. This is who you are! It is not something that can be earned, but rather lived. Through your communion with God you become a channel of God’s Presence and power to others. If you think about it, Jesus was the Son of God yet still had to spend time in the Presence of the Father at the beginning of His days. Not only that but He lived in a constant communion with the Father. Can we pay any lesser a price? If this was a non-negotiable essential in the life of Jesus, how much more our lives? God has made you a portal that was specifically designed to manifest His glory. Spending our devotion on Him, all that is left to do is “open the door” as portals of heaven to others.
